Do you habitually carry a bag with a shoulder strap over your shoulder?
Every time your shoulder feels the weight of the strap, bag and its contents it reacts by rising slightly. This begins to engage muscles to hold the shoulder this way so that the bag will not fall off.
If you suffer from shoulder pain or discomfort of any sort try a different sort of bag ie one with a handle or maybe a clutch variety. Alternatively a bag with a strap which will cross diagonally.
Give your shoulders a rest. Dont expect them to work really hard all the time

I have discussed several times in the class one way that we overuse our bodies. i.e. relying on our hands/wrists/arms when we rise to standing from a chair or sofa.
There may well be times when you have to do that but so often it is a habit.
Next time you get up from a chair see if you can do it without having to use your hands. You will then begin to use your legs and some of the stabilizing muscles in the pelvis in the way they were designed. It will be a win/win situation all round ie your wrists and shoulders can take a rest and your legs and pelvic area can strengthen up
